I am an art historian with wide-ranging interests in medieval art and architecture, gender, books, portraiture, and the teaching thereof. My current research is on the explosion of portrait images showing subjects in prayer in thirteenth-century France. In my teaching, I like to investigate ways to engage students’ sensory observations and develop their skills of critical thinking and communication about the past and the contemporary world.
